arriver / se passer / se dérouler / se produire

Arriver: about something quick, like a car accident. Bam, it happens. No long duration. A murder may take time, plan, altercation, struggle, etc. So arriver doesn't work.

Arriver: it's about whether it happens or doesn't happen, not how or how well it happens.

Passer: seems to include how and how well it happens.
