Vendredi dernier, un virus informatique s'est propagé dans les ordinateurs du monde entier : on compte plus de 200 000 machines touchées dans 150 pays ! Impossible pour les utilisateurs de lire leurs fichiers, car ces derniers sont codés avec un programme informatique appelé WanaCrypt. Les personnes à l'origine de cette cyberattaque sont décrites comme des « pirates » ! Elles réclament de l'argent pour rendre les fichiers à nouveau lisibles.

En France, l'entreprise automobile Renault a été touchée. Au Royaume-Uni, c'est le National Health Service, le service public de la santé. En Allemagne, c'est la Deutsche Bahn, l'entreprise ferroviaire publique (un peu comme la SNCF en France)… Administrations, entreprises et même particuliers en ont été victimes ! Car il suffisait d'ouvrir une pièce jointe avec une ancienne version du logiciel d'exploitation Windows (utilisé par les ordinateurs PC) pour que l'ordinateur soit contaminé. Mais ce n'est pas tout : ce virus a la capacité de circuler et d'atteindre les ordinateurs auxquels il est lié !

WanaCrypt est un programme informatique particulier. C'est un « rançongiciel » : pour en être débarrassé, il faut payer une rançon ! Le montant ? 300 dollars (environ 270 euros) à payer en bitcoins sous 3 jours, sinon le tarif double et passe à 600 dollars ! Si, au bout de 7 jours, l'utilisateur bloqué n'a toujours pas payé, les fichiers sont effacés… On estime que les pirates ont empoché 6 000 dollars samedi.
WannaCrypt is a particular computer program: It's a "ransomware": for to be freed, it's necessary to pay a ransom. On ne sait pas grand-chose sur lui, juste qu'il parle anglais et qu'il a réglé le problème depuis son domicile, en dehors de ses heures de travail ! Mais il a prévenu : ce n'est que temporaire, les pirates peuvent frapper à nouveau, comme ils l'ont déjà fait en février, avec un logiciel du même type.

Sunday, the french national gendarmerie has sent out advice for everyone to know how to protect his computer data: make backups (other than on the computer), update the software, pay attention to the names of the files that we receive before open them and disconnect the internet in case of problem.
